It’s that time of year again when the holidays are near. It is also the time when one of my most favorite ballets — The Nutcracker — is performed the world over. I remember when my son was little, we would bring him every December to see it. This month, The Nutcracker returns to Segerstrom Center For The Arts and I am looking forward to once again, enjoy Tchiakovsky’s score performed by the American Ballet Theatre.
The story of Clara and the wooden nutcracker her godfather, Drosselmeyer, brings on Christmas Eve is a timeless classic which I absolutely love. My favorite is the end of Act I when the nutcracker turns into a prince and leads Clara into the forest, right into Act II when they enter the Land of Sweets and is greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
The music is instantly recognized by young and old, and it is one of those productions which everyone will love. The Nutcracker runs from December 10th to 20th, 2015.
