This month, the Island Hotel reprises its highly popular Cocoa Lounge at Palm Terrace restaurant to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This dessert buffet promises and delivers everything chocolate and, those who have a weakness for anything deliciously sweet will not want to miss it. Executive Pastry Chef Michael Owens once again, along with his team, has created an array of beautiful and tantalizing desserts to tempt and satiate your sweet tooth.
Whole cakes offered include Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake, Espresso Mousse Chocolate Cake. White Chocolate Red Velvet Cheesecake and Chocolate Bread Pudding with Bourbon Cream served warm is my absolute favorite!
In the mini pastries category, guests will be treated to Chocolate Pudding Cake with White Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Glaze
Milk Chocolate Mousse Timbales which has a slight tartness from the raspberry.
Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Brownies, Orange White Chocolate Pistachio Cake, grown up versions of childhood favorites such as Financier S’mores, Gianduja Chocolate Pot de Crème, Dark Chocolate Éclairs filled with Almond Cream, Dark Chocolate Cheesecake (Pyramids), Fresh Fruit Tarts.
And if that wasn’t enough, candies such as Peanut Caramels
Chocolate Lollipops, Port Truffles and Chocolate Hazelnut Clusters are also available.
Now, the variety of sweets rotate from evening to evening so you never know what you will get on the night of your visit, but what you will definitely know is you won’t walk out of there unsatisfied.
Cocoa Lounge runs until March 3 from 6-10pm Tuesdays to Saturdays and is $24 per person exclusive of tax and tip.
One lucky reader will be able to win a chance to visit Cocoa Lounge this month. Leave me a comment telling me who you will bring and why. You have until Sunday Feb 12. Winner will be announced Mon Feb 13.

You’d think I’d say my husband… but it’s my 10 y.o. son who is the chocoholic! So I’d bring him. In fact, we went to the Chocolate Festival together last year so this would be a blast! Pick me 🙂

I would bring my partner in crime Chad… I couldn’t think of anybody better to spend a night of indulgence with! Heck he got me pregnant, he’ll just have to get (chocolate) chip faced with me! 🙂

I would bring my girl because dessert is the most important part of the meal for her. I want in because those sweets look so elegant and I want to see if they are as good as they are presented.

I would bring my husband. He got a new job and has been traveling most weeks so we haven’t been out without the kids much. Plus, I don’t know anyone who loves chocolate more than him. 🙂

Cocoa Lounge looks like a place that I could get into some confectionery trouble. There is no question that I would take my partner in sweet crime, Kealoha.
Chocolate wasted in public…add that to our rap sheet.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

I would bring my friend Kristin. She appreciates, as I do, anything sweet. Especially Chocolate!

This has my my sweet “baby” boy Bunsen written all over it. Poor kid inherited my insatiable sweet tooth and this is our cross to bear, together. He also has a photographic dessert memory so this would be something he would never forget. Me and my little partner in crime could have a sweet celebration together.

I’d definitely take my boyfriend with me. He glanced over at my computer screen as I was looking at this post and demanded that we go. He’s also been with me through some tough times, and this would be an amazing way to say “thanks”.

Normally I would say my girlfriend (if i had one), but then most people assume the next person would be my mom (as everyone assumes), but the important person I would bring is my dad. Why you might wonder? my dad although is not a sweets person but enjoys the thought of company and being able to spend time with me. In addition to the reason why I should bring my dad if I won is that because he has been taking care of my all my life and stuck with me when I was in the hospital for a little over 2 weeks. He is my hope and inspiration and I really want to have the ability to reward him for all he has done for me for all these years of my life and create wonderful memories to lead into the future as this could be one of the most treasured memories of our lives.

First thought would be to bring my fiance, but he doesnt appreciate desserts like my 16 year old daughter does! SHE is truly my first love, would love to take her on a date to splurge on these delicious desserts, since she is a teenager now and doesnt like to hang with her mom much anymore this would be a good excuse for some quality mom/daughter time 🙂

That looks amazing!
I would bring my wife because she loves this kind of sweet temptation just about as much as I do and we are celebrating our wedding anniversary this week! (Also to thank her for taking such good care of me after a recent surgery.)

Who would I bring? I honestly don’t know. However, I am a self-confessed chocoholic. So, if I could, I would take two of me. Since that is not possible, I will resort to extreme measures. I will put a posting on facebook and asking the the first person to respond to be my guest. Because, I believe chance encounters have the possibility of producing a spontaneous, life long relationship. Then, when everyone in the future asks us how we met, I will proudly answer “It was all about the chocolate”. I’ll remember our first night together at the Cocoa Lounge when we …

I bleieve that Cadbury’s made in the UK is not allowed to use all the crapola that Hershey’s uses to make fake US Cadbury’s under license. Huge difference in the feel and flavor. 🙂
