Sunday Wine Country Brunch at Fleming’s

July 11, 2013 Mad Hungry Woman 1 Comment

Fleming’s recently launched its Wine Country Brunch items offered along with other classic selections, every Sunday in its bustling dining room. I was welcomed by a really busy room filled with happy, hungry families and friends eager to spend some time together. Before you even order, a basket of warm buttermilk biscuits are set down on the table for you to enjoy.

Served with butter and preserves, it reminded me of scones for a leisurely afternoon tea party.

To get the morning rolling off to an even greater start, Fleming’s has specialty Bloody Marys to accompany your meal. They roll a cart table-side and whip these babies up in a blink of an eye.

After perusing the menu, I went with a tequila offering (surprise, surprise) — Mary En Fuego ($7.95) is a chipotle spiced bloody Mary with Sauza Gold tequila, fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes on a skewer and cilantro with a toasted cumin rim.

Our first item arrives. Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict ($22.95) consists of sliced filet mignon, which is regularly on the menu, served on a toasted English muffin with wilted argula and bearnaise sauce. The meat was tender and the arugula added a nice touch of freshness. Wished the muffin was a little less soft.

Surprisingly, my favorite of all was Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($14.95). The buttermilk pancakes were SO fluffy and SO delicious. They were dotted with homemade lemon ricotta and served with wildflower honey and blueberry maple syrup on the side. The pancakes come with two country sausages but they were a tad dry and chewy. I would’ve been delighted with just the pancakes! It was a huge portion and it isn’t humanly possible to finish the entire plate on your own.

French Folded Blue Crab Omelet ($17.95) was a crepe style omelette stuffed with gruyere cheese, wilted spinach and seasonal mushrooms, topped with blue crab meat, blistered tomatoes and dill hollandaise. The fragrance of the dill was lovely and added a really great flavor to the omelette. I really enjoyed this dish.
