I am no wine connoisseur by any means, but I can certainly tell you what I like, and what I don’t particularly care for. I was recently sent a bottle of Josh Cellars Legacy Red Blend for review, which I shared with friends over the weekend — I wanted feedback! I had never heard of Josh Cellars prior to this — which isn’t saying much as I’m sure there are 100s of wineries I am unfamiliar with. This particular one was founded in 2007 in the Central Coast wine region of Paso Robles, and pays tribute to vintner Joseph Carr’s dad “Josh”.
There are six bottles from Josh Cellars, three of which are under $20, including the Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and the custom blend Legacy — which I sampled.
The wine has fruity aromas. We picked up on raspberries, plums and even cherry. Its blend consists of Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Syrah, which creates an easy-to-drink wine, but definitely young and less bold from the get-go. It does, however, take on a smoother finish on the palate the longer it sits to breathe. At $14.99, the wine is an affordable choice to enjoy with a quiet meal at home, or shared with friends.
