I met Katie Chin when her last book Everyday Thai was launched. Now, several years later, she has another book out — Everyday Chinese Cookbook: 101 Delicious Recipes from My Mother’s Kitchen.
The book pays homage to Katie’s late mother, the legendary chef and restaurateur, Leeann Chin. Katie shares a collection of beloved family recipes, weaving a compelling tale of Leeann’s life and her pioneering role in popularizing Chinese cuisine in America.
There are Chinese classics like Wonton Soup, Kung Pao Chicken and Beef Broccoli. There is also modern recipes such as Edamame Hummus and Quinoa Fried Rice. There is also a recipe for the Chins’ signature Firecracker Shrimp. The book is a compilation of recipes which are simple to make, even for the most novice of cooks.
Each recipe is prefaced with a little story or anecdote from Katie, often involving her mother, or her children. Says Katie, “To me, cooking is storytelling and I am so honored to share my mother’s life story through her recipes and illustrate how every dish she made was an expression of love for her children and a gateway to a better life for our family. “
What a perfect gift this will be for your mom this Mother’s Day! The book is available via Amazon.

I’ll have to get this book too! I’ve been recently experimenting with Chinese cooking after receiving a cookbook as a gift (Mission Chinese Food Cookbook). Now I’ve become obsessed! Can’t wait to check it out
