If you’re on a gluten free diet — or not — you’ll love the spreads from Rigoni Di Asiago. There are Fiordifrutta fruit spreads — which are organic — and each 8.82 ounce jar is made exclusively from over three pounds of selected organic fruit using using a patented low-temperature cooking process. What I love most about these spreads is that there is no added sugar, but instead, uses organic wild apple juice to lend a little sweetness.
The Fiordifrutta Organic Fruit Spreads — I tried the Fig — are organic, non-GMO, Kosher certified, and gluten free. It truly sings to my non-sweet palate. You get morsels of Mediterranean figs in every bite.
Then, there is the Rigoni di Asiago’s line of honey collected from selected Italian beehives. A natural food par excellence, honey requires careful processing to maintain its toning, vitalizing and soothing properties. Defined as “raw” honey because it is cold-processed (patented by Rigoni di Asiago) it is rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and organic acids as well as natural antibacterial and antibiotic properties. Regular in-house inspections and independent certification authorities check the honey to guarantee the entire line from collection to the jar.
I tried the Organic Italian Lime Honey which is manufactured in the summer, in the hilly areas of the Alps, Mielbio. Lime Italian Honey has a color ranging from light yellow to amber with hints of green. It has a sweet taste, but not overly sweet, with a with a hint of lime and refreshing mint at the finish.
I’ve been adding a little Mielbio Lime Italian Honey to my herbal teas. Not only is it soothing to my throat from allergies, but it is also great on toast. I’ve also used it as an accompaniment to cheese on a charcuterie board.
