A few weekends ago, I attended a fundraiser at Surfas in Costa Mesa for Acres of Love, a global movement comprising compassionate individuals, individuals, private and public foundation, churches, and corporations who are embracing an entrepreneurial approach to solving the orphan crisis in South Africa.
The mission is to move away from the institutional model of orphan care, by enabling and empowering children to thrive, not just survive. Acres of Love rescues and cares for children abandoned or orphaned due to AIDS, abuse, and extreme poverty in South Africa. They also advocate for the rights of orphans to obtain world class health-care, education, and nutrition. Their Forever Family Homes are recognized and licensed by the RSA Department of Social Services and Population Development as Child and Youth Centers Homes in South Africa.
