San Diegans now have a little slice of France in their neck of the woods. Located in the heart of the Gaslamp district is Le Parfait Paris, a patisserie and café featuring goodies you’ll find in the most romantic city in the world. The display case houses a myriad of beautiful and equally tasty pastries and cakes. The most difficult part is choosing which you want to try.
Éclair Vanille Framboise ($7) is concocted with a red velvet pâte à choux with raspberry gelée topped with vanilla cream and fresh raspberries.
If you fancy something lemony, the Éclair Citron ($7) is a delicate pâte à choux with lemon custard, meringue brulee and lemon sponge cake squares. It is a work of art!
There are gorgeous macarons with flavors ranging from pistachio, lemon and chocolate, to matcha green tea.
Looking for something to wash down these goodies with? If you’re a fan of chai, look no further than Mumbai Dream Chai ($3.75) or any of the coffee beverages on the menu.
I prefer herbal tea – ask for flavors.
Those who don’t have a sweet tooth – like me – may indulge in savory options like Croque Madame ($13.50) a Paris ham and cheese sandwich on Pullman bread with a sunny side up egg on top.
I’m a huge fan of quiche and the Lorraine Quiche ($7.20) here is solid. Caramelized onions, nutmeg, Canadian bacon, and cheese are all enveloped within the thick slice of eggy delight.
Finish off with a chocolate croissant! You’ll be glad you did!
A lovely café to hang out with friends, or enjoy quiet time with a book. Either way, you’ll find the atmosphere here extremely relaxing.
