I’ve been a huge fan of Tip Top Deli in Carlsbad for a good decade now. Whenever I’m driving to and from San Diego, I’ll try to stop in and grab some food, or pick up some sausages from the deli to cook up at home. Located right by the Carlsbad Outlets, it is a quick detour off and on the 5 freeway.
Whenever I am at Tip Top, my go to dish is always the Oktoberfest Platter ($8.98) consisting three sausages (bratwurst, polish, knackwurst), with a side of German potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage, and a dinner roll. What I like to do is double up on the sauerkraut and omit the red cabbage because it is on the sweet side and doesn’t appeal to me.
The sausages are great! They possess a wonderful snap and each with its own specific flavors. I especially love the knackwurst!
