What are Sirtfoods? It is a newly discovered group of wonder foods particularly rich in special nutrients that, when consumed, are able to activate the same “skinny genes” in our bodies that caloric restriction does. These genes are known as sirtuins.
“The SIRT1 gene is essentially the body’s ‘spring cleaning’ gene. When it gets activated a recycling process gets turned on in our cells which clears out all the clutter and waste that builds up with age that would normally cause us to feel sluggish as well as make us vulnerable to disease. To fuel this recycling process our Sirt-1 gene turns on fat burning. It all means by activating Sirt-1 we feel great while losing weight.” — Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten (authors of The Sirtfood Diet)
The scientific world refers to SIRT1 as the ‘master regulator’ of our metabolism so important are its actions. By improving the health of our cells it allows all the tissues and organs to work as they should, and we see all these effects through greater health.
As I read through The SirtFood Diet, the concept is fascinating but not unusual, nor is it anything out of the ordinary. We all know that red wine, when consumed proportionately is beneficial to your health. In the last few decades, we also have learned that the Mediterranean diet is what everyone should strive for. Add to that a list of foods high in sirtuins, and voila… a recipe for progress and success.
Sirtfoods are so good for you, and has nothing to do with those nutrients we all know and hear much about. Although they are all valuable, there is something very different and special going on with Sirtfoods.
All the Sirtful diet requires is about reaping the benefits of everyday foods that we were always meant to eat, but in the right quantities and combinations, to give us the body composition and well being we all so dearly want.
The book is highly informative and there is a lot to soak in. Some of the Sirtfoods that’s recognized the world over includes: cocoa, green tea, and turmeric, so it shouldn’t be difficult to add these ingredients to your diet.
One of the chapters lists the top 20 Sirtfoods, and as I read through it, I realize that we already consume these items in one way or another. You’ll find recipes for Sirtfood juices, and there is a seven day plan for you to follow through.
If you’re looking for something different, try the Sirtful diet for a week, and see how you feel.

I would love to win a copy of the Sirtfood diet. I’ve put on weight following a car accident and my Mom’s passing, and decided that this spring is the time to return to a healthy weight. I can use all the help I can get!

I’m so very curious, ’cause I really like raw food yet still eat very rich in spices, sweet, salty, fatty once or twice a week. Would definitively like to read in on this.
