I recently came across some exceptional condiments that will add a layer of oompf to your recipes. oo’mämē is a brand of chile infusion — there are two — Mexican and Chinese chile oils with bold, rich, flavors to enhance any of your existing recipes.
Mark Engel, creator of Fifth Taste Foods™ puts the power of oo’mämē™ in everyone’s kitchen. The goal is to empower cooks, regardless of experience level, to prepare and enjoy great tasting, spicy, authentic food. I was very impressed by both but especially by the Chinese infusion. The flavors are spot on and possess the heady aromas from the Sichuan peppercorn. Engel spent many years in Taiwan, and therefore, well versed with the varied Chinese ingredients which come together to create this concoction.
We used some of the Mexican chile infusion in our homemade hummus this week, and it added not only a kick of spice, but also, a beautiful balanced all-around flavor.
Yesterday, I made a simple stir-fry using the Chinese chile infusion as a marinade base for my chicken. We loved it so much, the entire pan was swiftly devoured.
The condiment is quite spicy on its own, but once added to other ingredients/condiments, the spice level tempers down and marries incredibly well with proteins, vegetables, or even, in dipping sauces for dumplings, or noodles.
A little goes a long way, so use sparingly until you figure out how much you need. I highly recommend this delightful new product, which will become a staple in my kitchen.
