The OC Fair is back and tickets to give away

July 4, 2013 Mad Hungry Woman 22 Comments

The OC Fair will open its doors for the 2013 edition next Friday and will run until  August 11th. Visitors will once again get 23 days of fair indulgence ranging from all sorts of bacon fare to everything deep fried.

From Chicken Charlie’s Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joes and Bacon A-Fair’s Wild Boar on a stick (an OC Fair exclusive) to Pink’s Hot Dogs’ Ghiradelli hot dog (a beef dog topped with cream cheese, honey mustard, crumbled bacon and dark chocolate) and Ten Pound Buns’ Bacon Nutella Bun (The mad scientists at Ten Pound Buns have added ground bacon, whipped butter and Nutella on top of their famous sourdough “pizza” for the Bacon Nutella Bun) there is something for everyone!

It is the food of course! For one day we pretend calories do not count and nothing has cholesterol and we just go for it; tasting everything and laughing our way through the fair.

Trying the next food creations every year! I loved the fried coke from a couple of years ago and kool-aid last year reminded me of a doughnut. I am super excited to get my blooming onion and try the waffle dog and the krispy kreme sloppy joe.

Everything! All the fried foods, giant veggies and bunnies, baby farm animals, encased baked goods. Everything!

I am beyond excited to go to the fair as a NOT vegetarian this year.. 10 years of fair food being only corn and Tabbouleh.. I want to indulge this year and a must is to try the Pink’s Ghiradelli dog!

What is there NOT to like about an Orange County institution that has grown from 2 weeks a summer to a full month in the last decade or so?

I have never been to the fair before so I would like to check it out for the first time. The tickets would give me major incentive to do so

Everything at the fair is fried…. FRIED!!!!!! Excitement is way too small an adjective. Oh yeah and they’ve got animals and art and stuff. But that’s not fried!!!!

About Me

This blog is a journal of mostly my eating adventures, but also, other things I'm passionate about, including travel, the arts, and also, necessities to complete my life. Centered predominantly in and around Orange County, CA, some will extend to Los Angeles, San Diego and beyond. I am constantly searching for delicious food to eat and fun things to do, nothing is out of bounds. Sometimes it doesn't end well, but I can definitely say, it will always be an interesting journey.
