a 100+ year long company launches raw and unfiltered honey + giveaway

July 22, 2016 Mad Hungry Woman 13 Comments

I’ve been eating honey all my life, but never paid too much attention to the types of honey I am consuming. For a while, I am eating Manuka honey because my parents are, but this is imported and not really conducive to what and why I am eating honey for. You see, I have seasonal allergies, and I hate taking allergy medication. Quite some time ago, friends tell me to eat local honey because the bees collect pollen from local botanicals and by consuming this on a daily basis, builds up tolerance to combat the allergens within my surroundings.

However, it takes more time before I am aware that eating raw and unfiltered honey is really, the only way to go. Raw and unfiltered honey possesses antimicrobial and antibacterial properties which help our bodies fight naturally. Nutritional value is lost when honey is processed, hence, not in any way beneficial to our health.

This brings me to L.R. Rice, a family owned company, and a leading producer of top quality raw and unfiltered honey in the U.S. The company was founded in 1924 and has established and nurtured long-standing relationships with beekeeper families, allowing for quality US honey to be packed into every bottle. Their brand Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey has been around forever, but recently, they’ve launched a line of L.R. Rice Raw & Unfiltered Honey and Rice Family Raw and Unfiltered Honey.

What is most amazing about this company is that no matter where you live in the United States, there is a honey from your local area available for purchase. This way, you’re able to take full advantage of the benefits from the honey in your home area.

L.R. Rice Raw & Unfiltered Honey Varieties include:

  • Clover
  • Wildflower
  • Amber
  • Local Colorado
  • Local Florida
  • Local Great Lakes
  • Local Midwest
  • Local NorCal
  • Local Northeast
  • Local Northwest
  • Local SoCal
  • Local Texas Wildflower
  • Local Utah
  • Local Washington

Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey offers premium, raw and unfiltered honey at affordable prices and is available at Whole Foods as well as Walmart. The company works with local beekeepers to provide honey from select regions throughout the USA.

Naturally, honey from each region will taste slightly different from the other due to the different topiary makeup of each area. If you’re a honey lover, then by all means try them all out to find the one most agreeable to your palate. For me, the local southern California honey is my choice because of its antimicrobial properties!

For a full list of products, and locations visit the company’s website

If you’d like to try these honeys for yourself, I have a few bottles to giveaway. Please leave a comment and tell me why you would like to incorporate raw and unfiltered honey into your diet. Entries close on Sunday, July 31st, 2016.

I have the worst allergies. I’d love to give this honey a try to try and combat them. My allergies this year have given me bronchitis the last three months that I can’t shake. I’d love to see if this helps.

I have been reading about all the excellent properties of honey. I’m currently looking for a good option and I’m glad you wrote this up. Since honey virtually lasts forever I thought it would be good to store for emergencies as well as normal consumption.

I used to have access to local honey when I lived on the east coast but I’ve struggled to find a consistent source in Southern California. I’ve never tried unfiltered honey but the benefits seem great especially since my allergies get rough throughout the year.

I like to use honey in my foods for the same reasons we like raw milk, to reduce allergies!
