BOOK: Spaghettini From Our Home To Yours

It’s been a while since I last visited Spaghettini in Seal Beach. This time, it was a Melissa’s Produce event launching the restaurant’s new cookbook Spaghettini: From Our Home To Yours. This beautiful book features recipes from Executive Chef Victor Avila, who has been with the restaurant for more than 24 years. If you are still looking for that last minute gift for that foodie friend of yours, this is it.

Featured are some of Spaghettini’s guests favorites, and we were treated to a sampling of some of the recipes in the book.

Pommeroy Shrimp (Pg 21) has been on the menu since the restaurant opened. This favorite comprises plump shrimp served with Pommeroy sauce, a garlic, butter, mustard concoction you want to eat every last drop of.

One of my favorite salads is the Wedge (P.41) which is served with bacon, and the most delicious blue cheese dressing.

When it comes time for entrées, you won’t want to miss the classic Spaghettini and Meatballs (P.49) which is a sure pleaser for both young and old alike.

One of my favorites was Caramelized Salmon/Bok Choy & Jasmine Rice (P.62) a light, but flavorful option for those looking for something less meaty. The crispy sweet potato strips add a textural contrast, as well as hint of sweetness to the dish.

Make sure you have a side of Peas and Feta (P.85) to accompany your meal. It is a vibrant addition to any table, and the use of feta adds a level of savory on the palate.

To purchase a copy of the book, please visit Spaghettini’s website.
