I’m sitting here, in the new year, craving tacos! Yes, tacos. It’s not like I don’t eat them regularly, because, I do! I absolutely do! However it’s made me think about where I typically go to grab tacos when I’m hankering for them.
Since my son found this taco truck last year, we’ve been visiting at least once a week. Tacos Cabanas is parked on the corner of Warner and Birch in Santa Ana from 9am to 11pm. These tacos are reminiscent of those we eat in Rosarito, Mexico.
The tacos are cooked-to-order and there is a good selection of meats including carne asada, pollo, lengua, chicharron, tripa, buche, and so on — my favorite is suadero. In the evenings, they make champurrado, and it is especially welcoming when it’s a cold night.
Park your car in the lot next to the truck. Walk up to the truck and order. It’ll take a few minutes for them to cook your tacos, and then you can dress them up using the salsas in the little hatch to the right. There is a bunch of condiments in the stainless steel tubs as well. Go check them out!
