Book: My Fat Dad

February 10, 2016 Mad Hungry Woman Leave a Comment

I’m always looking for a good book to read while I’m at the gym. It makes the time go so much faster, especially if it’s a captivating book, which is why I want to share with you My Fat Dad by Dawn Leman, who pens The New York Times‘ Well Blog series. Even though I […]

ushering in the Year of the Monkey

February 8, 2016 Mad Hungry Woman 2 Comments

It is always a little disheartening celebrating Chinese New Year away from family and away from the hustle and bustle of where the action is. It isn’t a holiday here in the US, and there are no days off. I always try to do a few traditional things such as make tea eggs and pass […]

Japanese Chinese food at Aoki No Chuuka

February 1, 2016 Mad Hungry Woman 1 Comment

I’ve been seeing Aoki No Chuuka pop up on Yelp’s “Hot and New” restaurants list and want to try it out. It is located in the old Tabento spot – sad Tabento is no longer, as it was one of the better Japanese restaurants in OC – and offers a menu focusing on Japanese style […]

Nomad Asian Bistro — Long Beach

In China, there is a myriad of regional cuisines, enough to make your head spin. Growing up, we predominantly eat Shanghainese food prepared by my mom — an excellent cook — and then, there is the various Chinese food depending on where we were living at the time. In Malaysia, the cuisine is richly diverse […]

Kutsi Cocina — Santa Ana

A new year, and another new restaurant for Chef Chris Tzorin. The last couple of years have been a whirlwind for Chef Tzorin, with a stint at Tortilla Republic after leaving Savannah Chop House, then returning to Savannah, before anchoring himself at Kutsi. The new spot is housed in the old Memphis spot in downtown Santa […]

About Me

This blog is a journal of mostly my eating adventures, but also, other things I'm passionate about, including travel, the arts, and also, necessities to complete my life. Centered predominantly in and around Orange County, CA, some will extend to Los Angeles, San Diego and beyond. I am constantly searching for delicious food to eat and fun things to do, nothing is out of bounds. Sometimes it doesn't end well, but I can definitely say, it will always be an interesting journey.
